Rep: Mischa Barton Has “Intention” to Return to Work

Two weeks after being placed under psychiatric hold, Mischa Barton has left the hospital and is ready to head back to work.

“I can confirm that she’s left the hospital with the intention to resume production” of her new CW show The Beautiful Life, her rep Craig Schneider tells Usmagazine.com.

Barton, 23, was placed under involuntary psychiatric hold at L.A.’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center July 15.

“She’s going through a rough patch,” Benji Kohn, producer of Barton’s new thriller Homecoming, told Us at the time.

But on Friday, Ashton Kutcher, a creator of The Beautiful Life, said Barton was recovering well.

“I can tell you right now Mischa Barton is doing great,” Kutcher told reporters at a technology conference in Pasadena, Calif.

Production on The Beautiful Life — which stars Barton as a pill-popping supermodel — is set to begin Friday.

Aside from starring in the Fox hit show The O.C. from 2003 to 2006, the British-born Barton has also worked as a model.

Ashton Kutcher: “Mischa is doing great”

As for the role Twitter plays in allowing the actor, whose with wife Demi Moore is a favorite of the tabloids, to bypass the media, Kutcher said, “I don’t have to rely on People magazine or Us Weekly, who are going to twist what I’m doing.”

Having said that, he provided an update on actress Mischa Barton, who is in Katalyst’s “The Beautiful Life” on the CW and who was recently hospitalized. “I can tell you right now Mischa Barton is doing great — I can give that to my audience straight and have a direct conversation without the filter.”

I’ve also uploaded video from a Mischa segment on an Australian morning show called The Morning Show. It aired Friday morning in Aus. Its pretty much a rundown of all the tabloid stories that are flying around at the moment. Nobody actually knows what’s going on but at least we’ve had word from the publicist saying that Mischa is doing okay. People.com also reported the other day that Mischa has left the hospital.

As mentioned in that video, Mischa’s rep was accused of trying to hype up the story even more. However, the publicist, Craig Schneider, told Page Six: “I can assure you that I’ve been inundated with requests and inquiries from the celebrity weeklies . . . If none of them care, then by all means, please stop calling and e-mailing.”

“The Beautiful Life: TBL,” to be Filmed at KAS

Katalyst films, in association with CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television, is filming its new drama, “The Beautiful Life: TBL,” in Kaufman Astoria Studios’ Stages E and B. Produced by the bold duo behind “Punk’d” (Ashton Kutcher and Jason Goldberg), the drama premiers Wednesday, September 16, 2009 on the CW. Inspired by the real life experiences of model-turned-writer Adam Giaudrone, the series follows the dramatic lives of seven models who share an apartment in New York City. On site at Kaufman Astoria Studio is producer Matt Nodella (“Northern Exposure”) and Unit Production Manager Jaime Crowell (“Law & Order”).

The show exposes the seedy cut-throat competition and unexpected insecurities that lie beneath the glamorous modeling society. Real life model Elle MacPherson stars as Claudia Foster, owner of the Covet Modeling Agency. Sara Paxton (The Last House on the Left) and Ben Hollingsworth (“The Line”) play Raina Collins and Chris Andrews—two stunning teenage models who are introduced to the frustrations and benefits of the profession. Mischa Barton (“The O.C.”) and Corbin Blue (High School Musical series), who star as the more seasoned models Sonja Stone and Isaac, complete the cast of beautiful, young, and charismatic actors.

Publicist: Mischa Barton ‘making improvements’

LOS ANGELES — Mischa Barton is “making improvements” and plans a return to work nearly a week after Los Angeles police say they escorted her for an undisclosed medical problem.

Spokesman Craig Schneider says the 23-year-old actress is “still seeking treatment but making improvements.”

He would not elaborate on Barton’s condition, but said Tuesday that Barton planned to report to work on the new CW series “The Beautiful Life” later this month. A CW spokesman for the show, which stars Barton as a pill-popping supermodel, said production was scheduled to begin July 31.

Police say they removed Barton from her home last Wednesday for an undisclosed medical problem. The department will not say what it was.
