We met Mischa Barton, the popular OC actress, on the sets of Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain on the final day of their shoot at Golconda Fort in Hyd.
Looking ever-so-graceful in a safari suit, she enacts the role of a foreign journo in the film based on the Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
Earlier in the day, Mischa had been shooting in the Charminar area, (she’d also shopped there earlier and loved the colours on our streets) and happened to notice a dehydrated puppy lying on the road. Mischa picked it up at once, got a vet to attend to it and wanted to take it back with her to the UK.
The entire crew was quite taken up by the 2-month old pup and to everyone who kept asking, “How’s he doing?” there was someone correcting, “It’s a she!” Mischa was worried about the pup’s health all day and rushed to the vet after the shoot on Friday evening.
Totally taken in by the city, the Hollywood actress observed, “Hyderabad is a real inspiration in the fact that Christians, Muslims and Hindus all get along so harmoniously.” She is even impressed with the traditional masala chai. “I must admit I used to make fun of people who were all into yoga and chai , thinking it was another ridiculous health fad.
“But now I’m that person! First of all masala chai, the traditional way with milk and sugar is delicious, and this is coming from a Brit who only likes English Breakfast!” she added.
However, the actress is not so pleased with her progress in learning a new musical instrument.
“I must say my goal was to learn to play the sitar and it’s coming along real slow as apparently it’s not that easy to procure a great sitar teacher here, I guess it’s not late 60′s with Ravi Shankar and George Harrison roaming around unfortunately!!!!” she added.
