A mini photoshoot of Mischa while at BlackBook’s Hot Hollywood Party has been uploaded. This is the party that Mischa hosted at the Sunset Marquis. Photos are from Rony’s Photo Booth via Mischa’s Official Blog. Also uploaded are some hq photos from Mischa’s Evening Standard shoot from a little while ago.
– Evening Standard
Mischa attended a couple of fashion events the last few days:
– Burberry and GQ Celebrate Burberry ‘The Beat’ For Men
– Debut Of The Witches Fall 2009 Collection
Candids of Mischa following the Burberry event have also been uploaded. And the mq photos from the Mullholland Grill candids have been replaced with hqs.
At the 2008 Sundance , Yari Film Group premiered Brett Simon’s Assassination of a High School President, a film noir mystery set inside the world of a John Hughes-style High School comedy. It quickly emerged as one of the underdogs on the schedule to become one of the most buzzed about films at the festival. Unfortunately, Yari Film Group was forced into involuntary bankruptcy, and the film has been sitting on the shelf ever since. This has presented a very serious problem for theatrical distribution, and because of the legalities of bankruptcy court, the timing of this economic downturn and a whole slew of other worst-case-scenarios, Assassination is on the verge of losing its opportunity to have the theatrical run it deserves.
There might still be hope. Studios are still deciding whether or not they want to take a financial risk by buying the theatrical rights, spending cash on P&A and distributing the movie theatrically. Sony has the home video distribution rights, and from a business standpoint, they think it makes more sense to send the film direct to dvd. But I, like many others, think that Assassination of a High School President deserves to be seen on the big screen. What can you do? Leave your thoughts in the comments below, become a fan of the film on Facebook, and spread the word. Distributors like Sony Pictures Classics, Samuel Goldwyn, Fox Searchlight, etc need to see that there’s an audience out there waiting for an opportunity to see this film.
Why should you care about this movie? Here is what some other people have said
Many people have drawn comparisons between this film and Rian Johnson’s indie masterpiece Brick, and it would be hard not to. As I wrote in my original Sundance review “Assassination is not a copy of Brick, in fact, it was written before Brick. Imagine if John Hughes had made Chinatown set in a High School. So where Brick was a hardcore film noir story set in the world of high school students, Assassination is a high school movie with a noir mystery storyline.” I always thought of it as a more accessible, more marketable film…
The latest rumor Mischa Barton would like to debunk is she’s not appearing on the Melrose Place remake. Instead, the former O.C. star will make her return to the small screen with a role on another CW show, A Beautiful Life, produced by Ashton Kutcher.
“Ashton developed it about his life growing up as a model from Iowa, so it’s about the whole fashion world that he was in, and obviously I have a lot of friends in the fashion world, so I’m used to being around a lot of people in that,” Barton tells PEOPLE on Thursday night at a GQ magazine-hosted party to celebrate new men’s fragrance Burberry the Beat.
And Barton, who recently attended the fashion shows in Paris, promises to put the catty in catwalker. “[I play] a bitchy model-type character, like it’s a totally different character for me,” says Barton, who starts shooting as Sonia, a successful model who keeps the competition at bay but also advises the younger ones, at the end of the month.
Aside from modeling experience, the former face of Dooney & Burke has something else in common with Kutcher – a desire to reach out to fans directly. While Kutcher favors Twitter, Barton has recently taken to her own blog to “clear up all the misconceptions.”
Like what? “Like right now I’m supposedly too skinny. I just had to release a comment about how I’m eating enough and I’m healthy,” says Barton, who nibbled on a sweet onion tart with mushroom and a burger during the event. “I’m more concerned for young girls these days … and I think it’s important that you say I’m comfortable and I’m fine and you should to be too because it’s, like, silly … You’re always too skinny or too fat or too something.”
Other things she wants to clear up: “Like places I go, what kind of people I hang out with, what I’m like, if I’m a party girl, if I have issues … my real fans might go there and check out the music I like, the books I read, stuff like that.” Adds Barton, who also just broke the news of her breakup on her official Web site, “It’s just the best way for me to clarify things and show people who I really am.”
Couple of sets of candids from March 11th have been uploaded. Mischa looks a little stressed out in the day shots, but back to normal in the night shots.
