Statham mystery revealed – Mischa joins Homefront

We’ve been hearing about a mystery project of Mischa’s starring Jason Statham for a little while now, and IMDb has now finally revealed the title. The movie is called Homefront and also stars James Franco, Winona Ryder and Kate Bosworth. By the looks of things, Mischa is in a supporting role but it is still very exciting to see her involved in a project with several recognized and well known actors. The movie is written by Sylvester Stallone based on a novel of the same name by Chuck Logan.

IMDb indicates that the film is currently in post-production with release slated for 2014.

Here is the brief synopsis linked with the movie:

A DEA Agent retires to a seemingly quiet place with an underbelly of drugs and violence. When his family is threatened he is forced back into action to save his loved ones and the town.

Bloody Disgusting: Mischa’s I Will Follow You Into the Dark Interview

Bloody Disgusting caught up with Mischa to chat about her upcoming romantic horror I Will Follow You Into the Dark. Personally, this is my most anticipated Mischa feature. Check out the trailer if you’ve not seen it. Or even if you have seen it. There probably should be a spoiler alert associated with the text since it seems to give away a few details that aren’t prevalent in the trailer.

Mark Edwin Robinson’s I Will Follow You Into the Dark (the film’s sales agent, Epic Pictures, is selling it internationally as Into the Dark) is set to come out later this year. The film stars Mischa Barton (“The OC”, The Sixth Sense) as the troubled Sophia Monet. I recently caught up with Barton at her home to discuss the film, her character and some of the more intense moments to shoot on set.

In the film, “A young woman (Mischa Barton) who is severely depressed after the deaths of both her parents retreats within herself, only to be drawn out of her depression by an unexpected romance with a man named Adam (Ryan Eggold). After Adam mysteriously disappears into the depths of a haunted apartment building, she vows to pursue him, even if it means crossing into the world of the supernatural.” Leah Pipes and Ryan Eggold also star.

The movie deals with a lot of grief and loss. What was it like charting your character’s arc through that?

For me, Sophia is one of these people who is making huge revelations about her life quite quickly and is kind of confused about everything. This whole rejecting God thing is a huge deal for her. A lot of people go through life not questioning things and, when they do, it’s a massive overhaul. That’s where her grief comes from. The crux of the story for me was the love story between her and Ryan [Eggold, who plays Adam in the film]. In order for her to go to the depths of what she goes to, the most important thing is that this love was real and palpable and that the audience wouldn’t question it. And then the other side of it was, “would it be scary enough for me?”

Now that I’ve seen it, the film has turned out more ethereal than I expected. Which I like as well. It is more of an Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind life after death kind of curious side of things as opposed to a straight horror. I think Ryan thought it would err more on the side of just being scary, but it’s not. It’s more about life and love and what’s worth it and what your beliefs are.

As far as her grief, I play grief well. I’ve always played these quite complicated, layered, dark, depressed characters. Sophia isn’t someone with a huge backbone when it comes to things. I mean she is, but she isn’t. She’s strong enough to know what she wants but she’s so uncertain about so many things in her life, but what she’s sure about is Adam.

Mischa Barton – The Times UK

With massive thanks to Ivonne, here is Mischa’s article from The Times UK.

Mischa Barton has been famous for so long it’s quite a surprise that she’s only 26. She was starring on stage aged 8 and on screen by 11. And ever since winning her role as a bronzed beach babe in the TV teen drama The OC a decade ago, she’s been an almost permanent fixture in the glossy and the gossipy magazines.

We are meeting in Mischa’s Place, her boutique in Spitalfields, East London, which opened in August and is easily spotted because of the paparazzi outside. Inside there are rails of Barton’s own range of boho-glam clothes, handbags and make-up as well as the iPhone covers she designed for Uunique London. At their launch last month she posed with a £189,000 phone cover made from rose gold, pink and white diamonds and handmade Italian leather. Her own designs are a more affordable £34.99 and feature hippyish appliqué florals or a cartoon avatar of Barton herself, all swirly hair and pout.

In the flesh, Barton is just as Bambi-eyed and swishy-haired, but she’s also slightly haunted-looking in the manner of Kristen Stewart.

She teeters out of her taxi in battered leather jacket, skinny jeans and towering diamanté Jimmy Choos and takes me on a guided tour of the shop, proudly showing off the items that she designed herself. “I tend to be quite opinionated about what I do and don’t like. It’s important for me that girls actually want to wear it and enjoy it,” she says earnestly. “I get a kick out of that, I really do.”
