The official site for Mischa’s handbag collection has now launched! The site features a huge array of Mischa’s bags and also a list of stockists if you’d prefer to see them in person. The site also seems to ship worldwide so now is the chance for everyone to own a piece of Mischa’s collection!
Following a hugely successful launch, International actress and fashion trend setter Mischa Barton is delighted to introduce her second collection of sought-after handbags for Spring/Summer 09.
Available in stores from December, the collection is comprised of 34 covetable styles.
Vintage inspired totes mixed with chic drawstring bags, small clutches and oversized slouch bags all complemented by a new range of must have purses.
A diverse collection of new styles sit alongside old favourites in exciting new leathers and fabrics.
Coloured metallic snakes, patents, pearlised leathers, and statement tapestries are all hot fabrics for the season, many beautifully embellished with jewels and antique brass hardware.
The collection embraces the new seasons colour palette of hot purple, rock-chick black, classic tan, matt silver and ice white.
The new Mischa Barton collection will be available from leading department stores and boutiques across the UK. Prices range from £20 to £195.
I’ve added a page on the various retailers that stock Mischa’s handbag collection. These are sites that I’ve found myself so there might be more out there. So far I know of the collection being sold in the United Kingdom, Australia and at least online in Scandinavia. If anyone else has any additional information I’d love to hear from you.
Here is a preview of one of the upcoming advertisements from Mischa’s handbag collection. The line seems to be doing extremely well with regular sell outs at ASOS, Debenhams and John Lewis in the UK. As mentioned, the collection also just recently launched in Australia (through David Jones) and is also available in Scandinavia.
To all the Aussies who visit, Mischa’s handbag collection has launched in Australia. They are available at David Jones stores across the country. At this stage we aren’t sure if the bags are available at every store but if you’d like to purchase one, maybe ring ahead and find out if your nearest store has them. They apparently only went on sale in Australia within the last week or two so the line is just brand new. From the prices I saw, expect to pay upwards of $100 (Australian dollars) for most styles currently available.
How did Mischa Barton handbags come about?
I was approached by a manufacturer in Hong Kong who was keen to work with me, and I was attracted to the fact that they would let me design under my own name. The team was very open-minded, and let me be as funky or classic as I wanted with my designs. At the moment the collection is just available in the UK and Republic of Ireland and I like the exclusivity of that. Spring 09 is the second season I have designed for, and I feel people have more confidence in what I do now.
What can we expect from the brand for spring 09?
There are more wallets and purses this season and I’ve been working on improving the clasps. There are more studs and metalwork, which are inspired by catwalk designs. One of my favourite designs is a classic black handbag with an embossed logo. I like understated pieces.
Where do you get your inspiration?
I collaborate with other people when we are choosing fabrics and designs, so it is quite a back and forth process, but my input comes from the vintage and classic bags I own, and translating that into something modern and affordable. In terms of the brand’s flower logo, that was something I came up with when I was doodling. I think it’s quite 1970s, a bit Biba, and it shows the bag is a Mischa Barton bag without me having my name splashed all over it.

Here is a preview of Mischa’s upcoming second collection of handbags. The new styles and colours will be available towards the end of November. You can view full size previews in the gallery. Big thanks to Julia from the collection’s PR firm for the material!
While I’m talking about the bags, Debenhams has also put up a sale on their website and all of Mischa’s bags are temporarily marked down. Debenhams has close to 30 styles available with prices starting from just £16.00.
Just a quick update to mention that Mischa’s handbag collection has gone on sale on ASOS.com. The sale will last only one week and I think a few days have already passed so get in quick!
After taking in the Temperley London show on Monday, Mischa Barton kicked back at the designer’s after-party at trendy members club Bungalow 8.”I’m taking a bit of time out being in London seeing friends and family,”she said. Having just finished her second line of handbags and headbands for her collection with accessories designer Stacey Lapidus, Barton said she would start shooting a new film in November titled “Nepal” opposite actor Charlie Sheen. “I will be filming in India, which will be exciting,” she said.
