Apartment 1303 3D to shoot in April

One of the companies (MonteCristo International) associated with Mischa’s upcoming horror movie Apartment 1303 3D have announced a production start date on their website.

Director Daniel Fridell talks Apartment 1303

The Swedish press has been running articles on Swedish director Daniel Fridell who is due to shoot Apartment 1303 with Mischa early next year. Big thanks to Marie for finding the article. Below is the relevant English translation:

A new horror movie with actress Mischa Barton in the lead role. It is Swedish director Daniel Fridell’s new project, writes Expressen. 3-D horror film “Apartment 1303″ recorded in Los Angeles and Montreal in January and February next year.

It is really unlike anything else I’ve done before and that’s precisely what’s fun. I like the classic 70’s horror, this is more about “Shining”-direction, not as “Saw” and these splatter-horror ice, “says Fridell told the newspaper.

Mischa Barton and Rebecca De Mornay Check into ‘Apartment 1303′

Apartment 1303, the American remake of the Japanese ghost film, is one of the horror flicks making a splash at this year’s American Film Market. Now, a very reliable source is telling us that actors Mischa Barton and Rebecca De Mornay are rumored to have signed on to the film.

Our souce is also telling us that the remake might begin shooting in Detroit early next year.

As we reported yesterday, Apartment 1303 revolves around a rental unit that has the distinction of driving young women to suicide.  The director behind the project is Daniel Friedell. And the film is expected to shoot in 3D.

I’m personally happy to hear about this one so hopefully it turns out to be true. Shooting in 3D basically guarantees wide theatrical release which is something Mischa has had a lot of bad luck achieving with the indies she’s filmed.
