It’s been a while since Mischa Barton stepped into the spotlight, something the actress is acutely aware of. Perhaps that’s why she’s working with June Ambrose, the celebrity stylist with a new VH1 show called “Styled By June.”
Fun fact: like Blake Lively before her, Mischa’s never worked with a stylist before. But in the video above, taken from the March 19 premiere of “Styled By June,” Mischa and June begin to rehab the fallen star’s image via fashion.
It’s an image that could use a serious overhaul. With surprising candor, Mischa admits, “Press is definitely not one of my stronger points.” Things got out of hand, she says, because she was so young when it all began:
I was literally 17 when “The O.C.” blew up. the paparazzi and that craziness, it sucks the soul out of you and it distracts you. That was why the press attention made me reel the way it did, and it made me a bit angry and want to do my own thing.
That, June decides is no longer an option. Check out a softer, appealing Mischa in the video above… and how far she’s come, style-wise, in the slideshow below.

Move over Victoria Beckham and Nicole Richie — there is a new celebrity fashion designer in town!
Mischa Barton has kept a relatively low profile over the past few years, but the 26-year-old star is still very much in the game, and she is about to add a new title to her resume.
In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, the former O.C. star opens about life in the public eye, how she deals with criticism, and all of her exciting new projects, including the launch of her very own fashion line and website aptly called Mischa’s Place!
Debuting as an actress in 1995 when she was just 9 years old on All My Children, Mischa enjoyed success on the big screen with roles in movies like The Sixth Sense, Lost and Delirious and Tart before snagging the lead role in the hit television show The O.C in 2003.
Leaving the show in 2006, she went on to pursue a career in film, appearing in several straight to DVD films and gaining notoriety in the press for her relationships with Hollywood bad boys Brandon Davis and Cisco Adler, as well as her legal troubles, but Mischa refuses to let the criticism get to her.
“As far as criticism is concerned, if it was constructive, I’d take it to heart, but when the intent is solely malicious, I’ve learned to let it roll of my back,” she exclusively tells RadarOnline.com. “I’ve been working consistently since my age was in single digits and just celebrated my 26th birthday, so it would be nice to be given credit where credit is due. The important thing is my happiness, and I’m quite content!”
In addition to several upcoming film projects, including Bhopal, a movie with Martin Sheen and Kal Penn which was inspired by true events and shot on-location in India, spending time with her family and friends and “taking time to smell the roses,” the actress has been focusing on the launch of her new website.
“I’ve been interested and inspired by fashion since I was a young girl,” she explains about the decision to start her own line. “For me, it’s the most creative form of self-expression, so to launch my own clothing line was a very fluid and natural transition. The success of my handbag line has enabled me to expand into clothing, accessories, beauty and makeup; all of which is very exciting and can be previewed online at MischasPlace.com and will eventually be available at my London boutique.”
The clothing collection, which consists of about 30 items with everything from flirty skirts and dresses to military style jackets and basic leggings, ranges in price from $36-$280.
“My inspiration for the collection was varied,” she explains, “but for the most part, I just wanted to design a collection that is fashionable, comfortable, and wearable; items that I’d personally want to incorporate into my own wardrobe.”
Also featured on the website is her cosmetics and beauty collections, as well as her handbag line.
As for any advice for actresses that hope to follow in her fashionable and famous footsteps?
“My main advice would be to only pursue acting as a career if it’s innately what you dream of doing,” she says. “If someone is star-struck and caught up with the glamour of it all, they’ll be sorely disappointed. It takes a combination of talent, inspiration, perseverance, focus, a strong support team, and of course, luck, along with a whole lot more.”

Mischa introduced her Collection of handbags in July 2008 in the UK and Europe. The Collection, which is inspired by “vintage treasures” from Mischa’s international travels, includes a mix of small clutches, totes, drawstring and oversized slouch bags.
Mischa brings her well known Bohemian Style to all aspects of the range. Kenza’s blog teased us with Mischa news yesterday,
and today the details emerge. It looks like Mischa will be hosting a big party/event called Lindsay’s Party in Stockholm on May 26th, 2012. More information about the event is available on the website where you can also buy tickets if you plan on heading down. Kenza will be co-hosting the event alongside Mischa, with music provided by Alexandra Stan, Kate Ryan, Inna and DJ Antoine. It seems the concept of the party is to bring in a Hollywood influence (via Mischa) and mix that in with a summer dance party backed by DJs.
Lindsay’s party is this year going to take place in the heart of Scandinavia, STOCKHOLM 26th of May.
There’s going to be amazing Djs, performances, acts and happenings! So make yourself ready to start the summer @ Lindsay’s Party! We gonna rock this place!
The website also has a quote from Mischa regarding summer in Sweden:
I have never been to Sweden which is a great shame actually, I really look forward to come.
I’ve been told the summer is supposed to be quite spectacular in Sweden and I have seen so many beautiful things and people from your country as well.
I hear that you guys really knows how to party and I have high expectations regarding your sense for fashion and music.
When I got the opportunity to be involved in Lindsay’s I just couldn’t resist.
Let me know all the good things I shouldn’t miss out on when I’m there!
Kenza also briefly comments on Mischa’s involvement:
I was totally amazed about the project and idea behind Lindsay’s Party, I mean to combine Live Acts, DJ:s and Hollywood is a brilliant idea to get a great party.
We also have so much in common between us, always aiming to get the most out of life and with Mischa bringing that extra Hollywood spark to it, Lindsay’s Party is going to be like nothing else.
According to a recent article with stylist June Ambrose, the airdate for June’s VH1 reality show, Styled by June, is March 19th. Mischa will appear in the first episode of the show which will showcase Mischa’s time with June at Fashion Week last year along with a Mischa Barton Handbags event.
It looks like 2012 could be the year of Mischa Barton’s comeback, and I’ll be the first to say, “Finally!” Ever since I watched Fox’s The O.C., I’ve envied Barton’s ability to wear cute, casual looks without treading into adolescent territory. “When I was younger, I tended to dress much more sophisticated than the average teen since I was fortunate enough to have some of the world’s top designers willing to dress me,” said Barton.“I’ve become a bit more playful in my style as I’ve matured.”
The British-born actress has flown under the radar for the past few years, but little did we know that Barton has been expanding on her eponymous handbag line that she launched last fall. “Accessorizing has always been my favorite means of sprucing up an ensemble, which is one of the reasons I’ve launched my own handbag line,” said Barton. “It’ll culminate in my own boutique in London this spring that also includes clothes and make-up”
Barton is also wrapping up two new films, “I Will Follow You Into The Dark” and “Apartment 1303 3D”, so she admits she hasn’t had time to plan for her 26th birthday this Tuesday. “I haven’t put much thought into how I’ll celebrate, but I imagine it will be with a close-knit party of family and friends. Each year, people approach me with fantastic getaways or Vegas experiences, which can surely be fun,” said Barton. “But for me, it’s more about who I’m celebrating with rather than how or where, so I tend to prefer a low-key dinner at a favorite restaurant.”
While Barton celebrates her birthday, we asked her to share her thoughts on a few outfits from the past nine years. Check out her commentary in the captions, and tell us, which look is your favorite?
Also, make sure to visit the Stylelist page to view the photo gallery of some of Mischa’s looks which also features brief commentary from Mischa herself.
We already know this as Mischa is currently on set filming, but nevertheless, here is the first official press outline (aside from the original French story).
Mischa Barton to star in Mark Robinson indie thriller
Zero Gravity Films has set up indie thriller “I Will Follow You Into the Dark” with Castlight Pictures on board to finance and Mischa Barton set to star.
Leah Pipes, Ryan Eggold and Jaz Martin are also attached with Mark Robinson set to helm from a script he penned about a girl who’s severely depressed after the deaths of both her parents. Convinced that the afterlife is mere oblivion, she retreats within herself, only to be drawn out of her depressive funk by an unexpected romance. When her new love disappears, she pursues him — even if it means walking across the threshold into death.
Christine Holder, Mark Holder and Danny Roth are producing. David C. Robinson and Mark Darling are exec producing.
Barton is repped by Domain Talent.
