However, the 24-year-old has hit back explaining that she felt wrongly portrayed in the documentary.
Mischa said: “I think Fearne Cotton’s show is a joke and she’s a joke. I can’t hear Fearne’s name without seeing red.
“I wish I hadn’t done it and that’s bad because there are enough misconceptions about me in the press. She’s got nothing to lose if she makes a more salacious story, she’s only got everything to gain.
“I just find her messed up to be honest.”
During the programme there was a point where Mischa kept Fearne waiting around outside her home.
Mischa says: “Fearne never let on that she was irritated about waiting. She acts like everything’s so great and she loves you and they cut it together and make it seem like it was a terribly painful experience for them.
“I don’t want to start a feud with her, it’s not worth it to me. She likes the fame, it doesn’t affect her like it affects the people she’s documenting.”
She added: ‘I cried my eyes out when I first saw it because I was like: ‘Are you kidding me? This is the way you want to portray me? I’ve let you into my life.”
Mischa Barton has opened up about her “tumultuous year” being diagnosed with depression and suffering a “pretty reasonable breakdown”.
The 24-year-old actress is best known for her role playing Marissa Cooper in the defunct American television series The O.C., although she hit the headlines last year when she checked into a psychiatric hospital.
Mischa feels in a far better place mentally now, and is happily dating British deejay Ali Love and looking forward to new career opportunities, saying she has put the pain of 2009 behind her.
“That was a tumultuous year. It was one thing after another and it lead to a pretty reasonable breakdown,” she confided to the British edition of OK! magazine.
“I suffer from depression and that’s the truth. I’ve never told anybody that.”
Mischa does accept she can be kooky sometimes, but explains that is no reflection of her mental health and is just her unique personality.
The beautiful star now feels in control of her emotions, and says she uses the arts to express her feelings. She also insists she’s usually very happy and has a fantastic sense of humour.
“I am by no means mentally unstable. Well I am pretty crazy and weird sometimes, but not mentally unstable,” she explained.
“I balance [depression] with positive things in my life and that’s why I have my outlets of music and literature…As much as I get down, I’m an upbeat person. People always think of me as kind of a light in a room – I love to make people laugh.”
Mischa Barton has reportedly broken up with her British DJ boyfriend Ali Love and returned to live full-time in Los Angeles.
Mischa Barton has split from her boyfriend DJ Ali Love, it has been claimed. The 24-year-old actress is reported to have moved back to Los Angeles from London due to their break-up, which was caused by the media scrutiny the couple faced.
A friend told heat magazine: “He wasn’t ready to be a celebrity. He was expecting they’d get some attention, but he never imagined it would be as bad as it was. “He values his privacy and couldn’t deal with photographers following them around or the nasty comments people would make on blogs. So he finally told Mischa it would be better if they stopped dating.” However, the former ‘O.C.’ star is believed to be keen to win him back, and the pair have not ruled out reconciling in the future.
The pal added: “She’s trying to forget about him and move on, but they might give it another go. “Mischa has always had on-off relationships. But she’s not reaching out to him at this stage.” The couple had only been together for a short while, only going public with their romance in July when they were seen together at the Lovebox festival, held in east London. A source said: “Mischa was looking pretty merry in a bedraggled short flowery dress and white bow. She and Ali were all over each other backstage, and kept popping off to the toilets – presumably for a cheeky kiss. “They just returned from a break in the South of France and things are obviously going really well.”
An online article on Mischa’s Rosa Clara endorsement from Caras.pt was recently published (which is where the below pictures come from). IanaLouise from Kristen Team was kind enough to send through a translation of the text for us. Check it out below.

Fearne And…Mischa Barton will air Wednesday September 8th at 9pm on ITV2.
The first episode of the series sees Fearne meet Hollywood actress Mischa Barton.
Mischa shot to fame with her role as Marissa in The OC back in 2003. She has rarely been seen on our screens since her character was killed in 2006 but the press are still fascinated with her, following and documenting her every move.
Fearne sets out to discover what Mischa is doing now and why she causes such intrigue. She visits Mischa at her home in LA and goes out in her Cadillac with her and the actress explains that she is constantly living under the gaze of the paparazzi. Fearne also visits Mischa when she is in London and discovers that she was born in the city and her sister is a barrister there. Mischa tells Fearne: “Growing up in New York but having a very English family and background has really served me well, I think.” Fearne visits the office where Mischa designs her handbags and tries to find out about her night out the evening before with singer Amy Winehouse. The presenter also goes with Mischa to one of her London boltholes and gets to meet some of her friends.
Plus, as Fearne spends more time with her, she starts to question her about more sensitive subjects like her weight, which has been a hot topic of debate in the press. [ITV Press]

Rachel Bilson has admitted she misses working on US TV drama series ‘The O.C.’ and wishes she saw more of her former co-stars.
The 28-year-old actress – who rose to fame playing Summer Roberts in the American teen drama series -had a “phenomenal” time working on the show, which ran for four seasons until February 2007, and misses working with her co-stars Mischa Barton, Adam Brody and Benjamin McKenzie.
She said: “I do miss Summer terribly. ‘The O.C.’ was the most phenomenal time. I saw Mischa at Cannes, but I honestly miss everyone from the show.”
The actress believes she has been able to avoid Hollywood trouble because she was 21 when she first appeared in the show – whereas her co-star Mischa was just a teenager.
She explained: “I do fall out of cars, but not because I am drunk, but because I am clumsy. I think the girls who come to fame younger fall into all that partying, but I did it before I became famous. I mean I was 21 when ‘The OC’ started, Mischa was 16. I can’t imagine dealing with that kind of success at that age. My life may have been very different if I had started out that young.”
