‘High School Musical’s’ Corbin Bleu to join Mischa Barton’s ‘Beautiful Life’

So Mischa Barton may not be mixing it up with Ashlee Simpson-Wentz on The CW’s “Melrose Place” this pilot season, but her new project will boast a co-star with a musical background.

The network confirms that “High School Musical”‘s Corbin Bleu (Chad Danforth) has been cast in Ashton Kutcher‘s “A Beautiful Life” as a male model with a Lenny Kravitz-type vibe. Bleu is not signed on as a series regular, but will definitely appear in the pilot.

Other names attached include Sara Paxton (“Summerland”), Benjamin Hollingsworth (“The Cutting Edge 3″), Ashley Madekwe (“Secret Diary of a Call Girl”) and Nico Tortorella.

So, Corbin Bleu. Smart move on The CW’s part, no? How many of you “HSM” fans are into this news? Make you a little more interested in the show?

Mischa Barton Cast in New Ashton Kutcher Show

Beautiful Life

The latest rumor Mischa Barton would like to debunk is she’s not appearing on the Melrose Place remake. Instead, the former O.C. star will make her return to the small screen with a role on another CW show, A Beautiful Life, produced by Ashton Kutcher.

“Ashton developed it about his life growing up as a model from Iowa, so it’s about the whole fashion world that he was in, and obviously I have a lot of friends in the fashion world, so I’m used to being around a lot of people in that,” Barton tells PEOPLE on Thursday night at a GQ magazine-hosted party to celebrate new men’s fragrance Burberry the Beat.

And Barton, who recently attended the fashion shows in Paris, promises to put the catty in catwalker. “[I play] a bitchy model-type character, like it’s a totally different character for me,” says Barton, who starts shooting as Sonia, a successful model who keeps the competition at bay but also advises the younger ones, at the end of the month.

Aside from modeling experience, the former face of Dooney & Burke has something else in common with Kutcher – a desire to reach out to fans directly. While Kutcher favors Twitter, Barton has recently taken to her own blog to “clear up all the misconceptions.”

Like what? “Like right now I’m supposedly too skinny. I just had to release a comment about how I’m eating enough and I’m healthy,” says Barton, who nibbled on a sweet onion tart with mushroom and a burger during the event. “I’m more concerned for young girls these days … and I think it’s important that you say I’m comfortable and I’m fine and you should to be too because it’s, like, silly … You’re always too skinny or too fat or too something.”

Other things she wants to clear up: “Like places I go, what kind of people I hang out with, what I’m like, if I’m a party girl, if I have issues … my real fans might go there and check out the music I like, the books I read, stuff like that.” Adds Barton, who also just broke the news of her breakup on her official Web site, “It’s just the best way for me to clarify things and show people who I really am.”

Mischa Barton joins CW’s ‘Beautiful Life’

“The O.C.” alumna Mischa Barton has been tapped to star in CW’s drama pilot “A Beautiful Life.”

The project, from CBS Par, revolves around a group of models living together in a co-ed residence in New York.

Barton will play Sonja, a supermodel and veteran of the high-fashion circuit who is struggling to keep on top and is in danger of slipping.

Barton can bring personal experience to the role as she has modeled for such companies as Calvin Klein, bebe stores, Aeropostale, Monsoon Accessorize, Dooney & Bourke and JC (Jeans and Clothes).

Barton was originally up for another CW drama pilot, “Melrose Place,” but that casting didn’t materialize.

Best known for her role as Marissa Cooper on “The O.C.,” Barton is repped by Paradigm.

The Hollywood Reporter

BTW guys, this is The Hollywood Reporter breaking the news so its not some tabloid publication. Looks like we might be seeing Mischa on our screens very soon! We just have to hope that the show gets picked up by The CW.

Mischa’s rep comments on Melrose Place

This from from an MTV news story about Ashlee Simpson joining the cast of the show:

In addition to the rumor that Locklear will be back for more backstabbing fun, “O.C.” alum Mischa Barton is rumored to make her return to the small screen for “Melrose Place.” If she does, EW.com reports she’ll play the good girl — either med student Lauren or schoolteacher Riley.

“This is news to me,” a rep for Barton told MTV News. “She’s just returned from Europe and heading there again for contractual commitments, but I know she has been reviewing scripts for pilot season, though I haven’t heard of anything specific.”

Glamour Germany April 2009

Mischa graces the cover of the April edition of Glamour magazine in Germany. Unlike previous issues, this one features a brand new photoshoot. Also included with the cover preview are some behind the scenes shots from the shoot. Thanks to Maz for the tip!

Girly Gossip with Mischa Barton

When we heard Mischa Barton was in town to promote the new range of Herbal Essence’s hair care, we couldn’t resist popping into her hotel suite for a wee girly chat about lipstick, eyeliner, her favourite Malibu beauty tips and just how many headbands she actually does own. Turns out Mischa – looking ultra-cool in Charlotte Olympia Heels, leather trousers and a military-style Temperley jacket – was in quite the confessional mood. So after we’d clocked her fashion credentials (she turned up to the P&G Beauty Awards later on in a gorgeous Alberta Ferretti S/S 09 dress), we got down to the serious business of gossiping. Check out the video to find out Mischa’s must-have products, her favourite place to hang out in London and just who she had posters of on her bedroom wall as a teenager. Grazia Beauty

Also, a couple of additional alerts. According to Twitter pages, Mischa was recently interviewed for a beauty segment in the July issue of InStyle magazine. And the BlackBook Twitter page is reporting that Mischa will be back in the United States by March 12 to host an event. Thanks to Marie for the finds.

Is Mischa Barton Moving In To Melrose Place?

New rumours are circulating that Mischa is testing for a role on the new Melrose Place. Please take this story with a grain of salt as Mischa has been attached to so many TV shows in the past and nothing has ever come about. Besides, I’m sure Mischa wouldn’t have to “test” for a role on The CW, she’d pretty much be able to click her fingers. 😉

Is Mischa Barton Moving In To Melrose Place?

We haven’t seen Mischa Barton on TV since Twilight star Cam Gigandet ran Marissa Cooper off an O.C. road a few years back, but it could just be a matter of time. An industry insider tells me that Mischa is testing for a role on The CW’s Melrose Place remake today, saying the network is very excited about her.

No surprise, as they had originally wanted Barton to play Gossip Girl‘s Georgina Sparks, a part that eventually went to Michelle Trachtenberg. Seems M.B. is more interested in the idea of depicting an adult TV character.

And you? Are you into the idea of an all grown up Barton back in your living room every week? I think it’s a good move for the show. While old school Melrose fans will probably tune in for the new series’ first episode, younger viewers who are more familiar with The O.C. may watch because of Mischa.

If she does in fact land the role, she will go to work with Greek‘s Michael Rady who was cast as Jonah Miller, an aspiring filmmaker, last week. His character is said to be a lot like the original show’s Billy, played by Andrew Shue.

No word on which veteran Melrose character Mischa might be emulating. Marcia Cross‘ crazy Kimberly maybe?!

MISCHA’S NEW MOVIE: The Science of Cool

Looks Mischa has signed on to star in a new comedy called The Science of Cool. IMDB is reporting that Mischa’s character will be named Jane and the official MySpace for the film and the production company are also reporting Mischa as the latest addition to the cast. For all the Friday Night Lights fans, also starring in the film is Jeremy Sumpter (who played J.D. McCoy).

The Science of Cool

Neil Tobbler and his best friend Gilbert Stevens are the biggest geeks in their school who love science class, get good grades, are socially inept, and just can’t seem to get a break from anyone they meet in their lives, until they stumble upon a formula which can transform nerds into studs. Life changes instantly before their eyes, or does it?

There is a formula for being cool!

This is another independent film with a tiny budget of around $6 million (also according to IMDB). And from the MySpace is this take on the film: The Science of Cool promises to be a hilarious, modern take on some of the most classic 1980’s teen films such as Weird Science, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Sixteen Candles.
