Photos of Mischa at the VRC Oaks Club Luncheon in Melbourne, Australia, have been added. Mischa looks beautiful in a dress by another Australian designer – Nicola Finetti. She’s also wearing another hat by Philip Treacy. Absolutely perfect for another event at the races! What a great few days.
Here are a couple of videos that feature snippets of Mischa interviewed at the Melbourne Cup.
This third video features an Australian radio host from the Fifi & Jules show posing with Mischa pretending to take a photo when they’ve actually left the camera on video mode intentionally to see how long she’d last. Funny!
Additional photos of Mischa’s shoot with Adam Flipp shot on location for Emirates Wolgan Valley in New South Wales, Australia, have been added. Loving the whole shoot, but this larger shot in particular stands out for me. Simply beautiful!
Additional publicity photos of Mischa posing with Melbourne Cup 2000 winner ‘Brew’ have been added. As previously mentioned, Mischa is wearing a dress by Toni Maticevski and hat by Philip Treacy.
It’s the race that stops a nation and is arguably the biggest social event of the year in Australia – the Melbourne Cup. Mischa was front and centre as the special guest of Emirates and Victoria Racing Club where she led the fashion stakes on a day that touts hats and champagne as important as the race itself. Mischa wore a custom made dress by Australian designer Ellery with a stunning hat by her friend Philip Treacy. Her other accessories included shoes and a clutch by Louis Vuitton, jewellery by Cartier and sunglasses by Karen Walker.
Joining Mischa at the event was her mum Nuala. Friend and Revenge star Ashley Madekwe, who wore a dress by another Aussie label Camilla and Marc, was also in attendance.
Actress turned fashion designer Mischa Barton has slipped quietly into the country this week, experiencing a quintessentially Australian escape with a stay at the luxurious, Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa.
Barton took time out to relax at the secluded conservation-based resort before jetting south to enjoy the highlight of the Australian sporting and social calendar, the Emirates Melbourne Cup, in the prestigious Emirates marquee as the airline’s special guest.
Treated to world-class accommodation including the exquisite two-bedroom Wollemi Suite, amidst a richly landscaped garden with surrounding verandah and private swimming pool, Barton was enamoured by the property.
“Wolgan Valley is absolutely stunning and a thoroughly relaxing experience. From the private villas to its commitment to caring for its wildlife and environment, the resort is spectacular in so many ways. I was especially thrilled to see so many kangaroos roaming freely on the land,” said Ms Barton.
Exploring the 4,000 acre property and its stunning views, sampling fine local and regional produce and enjoying an indulgent spa treatment at the Timeless Spa were just some of the items on their itinerary.
Located a scenic three-hour drive or 45-minute helicopter ride from Sydney, Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa is nestled between two National Parks and bordering the Blue MountainsAbsolutely concentrated. World Heritage Area. The property is steeped in history – from ancient Aboriginal times to the presence of an 1832 Heritage Homestead restored to its original glory and a connection to Charles Darwin – who visited the Wolgan Valley in 1836.
As the first carbon-neutral hotel in the world, the pioneering resort actively protects its surrounding habitat and indigenous wildlife species while delivering the first-class standards and quality expected from luxury resorts.
Barton catapulted to fame by playing Marissa Cooper in the US TV hit The OC. Barton – who has delivered eight successful seasons of her handbag line and just launched her flagship clothing boutique in London’s fashionable east end – is currently combining highly successful careers in both fashion and entertainment. Most recently, Ms Barton returned to the stage in an Irish production of Steel Magnolias with Australian actress Anne Charleston.

The actress remembers her first visit to Australia.
“I’ve been going to the races since I was a kid with my dad,” said Mischa Barton at her first Melbourne Cup at the Emirates marquee. “I had a bet on the fourth race and lost. For Melbourne Cup, I bet on Calvary Man and Galileo’s Choice. Being Irish, I’ve got to support the Irish horses.”
Designer Kym Ellery designed Barton’s outfit for the occasion, which she paired with Louis Vuitton clutch and shoes, gold Karen Walker sunglasses, Cartier jewellery and a Philip Treacy hat.
As well as Ellery, her other favourite Australian designers include Easton Pearson, Lover, Sass & Bide, Manning Cartell and Ksubi.
First coming to Australia at the age of 16 to film a movie on the Gold Coast, Barton has fond memories of her time here. “I travelled and Port Douglas and throughout Queensland and I loved it,” she says. “I would love to travel when I’m not doing press.”
She’s due to return to London shortly to finish performing in the play Steel Magnolias, before she starts shooting for three upcoming films.

HOLLYWOOD stars Mischa Barton and Rose Byrne were among the VIPs who made a bigger splash on Melbourne Cup day than the rain.
Barton was the “headline” act among the Hollywood identities who shimmied in the Birdcage area on Tuesday, while Byrne was the biggest home-grown star on the scene.
The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills cast member Taylor Armstrong and sassy Revenge siren Ashley Madekwe also partied with local celebrities in the VIP compound at Flemington.
Barton was the first to make her mark by arriving early, catching photographers off-guard and wowing the guests in the Emirates marquee.
She took time to walk through the marquee, stopping to have chats with several Seven Network hosts, including gushing entertainment reporter James Tobin.
The star of The OC was taken with the laid-back nature of the event, which she said was in stark contrast to her visits to the races in England.
“It’s more laid back than I thought it would be and it’s easier here,” Barton told reporters.
“England is quite a big production and I really like it here … it’s nice.
“This experience has been generally pretty laid back … everyone wants to have fun and have a nice day.”
Barton was a guest of the Victoria Racing Club and its major sponsor Emirates.
