Wishing Mischa a very Happy Birthday!! She’s currently in London filming a movie, so hopefully she has some free time to fit in a celebration.
Check out this incredible new trailer for Mischa’s upcoming role in A Prayer for Rain. The film is inspired by the real events surrounding the tragic Bhopal disaster. Mischa’s co-stars are Martin Sheen and Kal Penn.

In 1945 Union Carbide Corporation helped build the atomic bomb. In 1984 they built a time-bomb…
Starring Martin Sheen, Mischa Barton, Kal Penn and a powerful ensemble cast, “Bhopal A Prayer For Rain” is an epic, ‘whodunnit’ that exposes the shocking events that led to the biggest man made industrial disaster in history, in which as many as 10,000 people were killed in one night and for those that did survive, the tragedy had just begun.
Dilip, a rickshaw driver in Bhopal, India, lands himself a job at the Union Carbide plant. It is a chance to prove his worth to his family and pull them out of poverty. The job is tough with long hours; everyone is desperate to hold on to their pay cheque and so Dilip keeps quiet when he notices managers at the plant ignoring safety standards.
Dilip’s long time friend, Motwani, a tabloid journalist knows that Bhopal residents complain of the constant stench in the air and wake up at night choking from the gas. He is on a mission to expose what he believes is a deadly time bomb ticking away in his home town. He feels as if no one will listen but when he meets feisty American journalist, Eva, he sees a ray of hope and persuades her to confront Carbide executive Warren Anderson.
As Eva and Motwani endeavour to delve deeper into Carbide’s activities, Dilip is using every resource necessary to pay and plan for his sister’s wedding. When the wedding night arrives the family are full of joy and celebration as two families join together as one. But as the music plays an invisible catastrophe is working its way throughout the town and wedding party. One by one the guests start to feel unwell the largest tower at the Carbide plant spews poisonous gas into the night air; one by one they collapse; and one by one they unknowingly become a statistic in the world’s largest chemical disaster to date.
Nearly thirty years later as the plant stands as a ghost-like constant reminder, the water in Bhopal is still contaminated and one person a day dies as a direct result of the tragedy, Eva visits the now retired Anderson. Will he finally bow down and apologise? Or will he continue to deny that Carbide had any part to play…?
A disaster that set a deadly precedent for multinational corporate activity in the developing world and revealed a poisonous corruption at the heart of India, the world’s largest democracy – this is a story that demands to be seen.
I posted about Mischa’s involvement in this film in the development update a few days ago, but now the role is excitingly receiving some proper press courtesy of Variety.
And how awesome are the pictures showcased above of Mischa’s transformation into other memorable icons from the glory days of Hollywood and beyond. We can’t wait to see Mischa transformed into Jean Harlow.
Here is the story:
Mischa Barton has been cast as Jean Harlow in the biopic “By Love Reclaimed” for ThunderBall Films and Mania Entertainment.
Nuala Barton and Mario Domina are producing “By Love Reclaimed.” Adrian Finkelstein and Valerie Fanich will exec produce.
The script, written by Finkelstein, centers on the 1932 scandal in which MGM producer and Harlow’s husband Paul Bern was found shot to death in their Benedict Canyon Home — two months after Harlow had married him.
Harlow, one of the biggest stars of the 1930s, died in 1937 of kidney failure.
Barton, who is currently in London filming “The Hoarder,” recently wrapped the indie feature “Starcrossed.” She is repped by Artist International and Adam Trahan.

Just wanted to do a quick wrap-up of all the movies currently in development with Mischa attached. As we’ve learnt over the years, in development doesn’t mean that a film is moving forward to production, so just think of them all as strictly possibilities.

Chilling, archetypal, epic love story about an infamous pact made between a young woman and the devil in the sixteenth century that plays out today against the backdrop of social media.
A Study in Red: The Secret Journal of Jack the Ripper (trilogy)
Also includes Legacy of the Ripper and Requiem for the Ripper
This dark psychological thriller tells of the incredible and terrifying events that surround psychiatrist Robert Cavendish when he inherits a decrepit, yellowed journal from his family. The journal appears to have been written by the infamous Whitechapel murderer, who terrorized the streets of the East End of London in 1888. Filled with dramatic imagery and an underlying sense of foreboding and danger, this compelling novel will certainly lend itself well to the transformation from page to screen.
By Love Reclaimed
Jean Harlow returns to clear husband’s name – On July 2, 1932, after a three year secret love affair, MGM producer, Paul Bern marries screen icon Jean Harlow. Two months later, he is found shot to death in their Benedict Canyon Home.
It’s kind of mind-blowing that we’ve literally reached the decade mark for this website. It opened its doors back on January 11th, 2004 and almost immediately became the foremost source for all things Mischa Barton. We’ve survived the highs and lows, battling the haters and cheering the successes, and I think, like Mischa herself, we’re at a good and solid place right now. Not to get too sentimental on you, haha.
I apologize in advance for this long-winded and kinda self-indulgent post
To go into a bit of history, since I think some of you have been visiting since day one, Shanna opened and maintained the site from January 2004. She ran the site extremely well which actually inspired me to open a website specially catering to fans of Marissa Cooper (It was called Coop, Marissa-Cooper.com). During 2004, Shanna also brought on a co-webmaster named Janine who remained with the site for years. Around the end of 2004, I was brought on as a part-time co-webmaster (well technically, I started as an “Australian correspondent” due to the extremely high level of press attention Mischa received in Australia).
During the end of 2004 and for a few years after that, I was splitting my time between this site and Marissa-Cooper.com. After the whole The O.C. debacle, I decided to close Marissa-Cooper.com and work exclusively on this site. So in effect, I merged the two sites together. Shanna and Janine eventually left this site, but it clearly would not be here without them starting it in the first place. Just in case you guys read this, thank you!! Oh, and I also want to thank Nat, who had a brief stint as a co-webmaster too.
During the site’s heyday, we were getting upwards of 30,000 hits a day. Now bear in mind, none of us got/get paid to work on this site, so it was always very exciting to see so many people clicking and visiting. I think at last count we had accumulated over 10 million hits.
That pretty much sums up the journey of the site.
It’s a cool achievement that we’ve managed to keep up with regular updates over the years since it is genuinely not very common for a fan site to last this long. And it really is all because of Mischa. She probably doesn’t even know it, but her presence and her performance sincerely has had an enormous impact on a lot of fans.
Huge thanks to Mischa, just for being Mischa. A big thanks to Gertie, our amazing host from the Fan-Sites Network (plus Luciana and Annie who keep things running smoothly server-wise). And of course all the past and present fans who use this place as their source of Mischa Barton news and media.
Happy 10th Anniversary MISCHA-B.COM!
P.S. Hope you guys like the 10th Anniversary Edition design!
Photos of Mischa at the New Year’s Eve 2014 Celebration at Beacher’s Madhouse MGM have been added. It’s been a while since we’ve had some event photos.
It has been very slow going at the moment – limited news on the Mischa front coupled with the holiday season has created a perfect storm of no updates. The Daily Mail has been posting candids of Mischa so if you’re desperate for some Mischa news, check out their website. I don’t have anything really exciting to post, just a couple of stills (one is a repeat, just a different size) from Mischa’s upcoming role in American Beach House. Hopefully more regular updates will resume in the near future.
I had also intended on switching layouts as this current one was only supposed to be temporary, but the designer went MIA. So I’ll figure something out on the layout front soonish.
