Check out the teaser trailer for Mischa’s upcoming role in L.A. Slasher. The trailer is really well done and makes the movie look like a lot of fun, can’t wait!
We are still currently awaiting details of a release date, but with distribution pretty much locked in, it shouldn’t be too far away. You can also read an excerpt from the press release below.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (August 18, 2014) – A new trailer has been released for the up-and-coming film “L.A. Slasher,” directed by Martin Owen and produced by Jeffrey Wright and Daniel Sollinger (“Girls Against Boys”, “The Alphabet Killer”). The satire, which is making waves in social media, has also recently been picked up by Archstone Distribution to handle its international sales.
The film offers a tongue-in-cheek review of reality TV, and the undue admiration for people who are famous for simply being famous. In the feature, the L.A. Slasher publicly abducts a series of reality TV stars, while the media and general public in turn begin to question if society is better off without them. “L.A. Slasher” explores why it has become acceptable and even admirable for people to become influential and wealthy based on no merit or talent – purely through notoriety achieved through shameful behavior.

L.A. SLASHER is a satirical take on the horror genre set against the celebrity obsessed world of modern day Los Angeles. The biggest stars, on the hugest billboards are stars of Reality TV, or people who have found fame through the masses of social media. Famous for being famous, a concept that has sent one person to their breaking point….
Los Angeles is running wild with speculation over the mysterious abduction of a famous reality TV star. The speculation grows into fear as she is discovered wandering the Hollywood hills after an apparent brutal stabbing. Responsibility is claimed by a mysterious stranger calling themselves the LA Slasher. The confession is made on Twitter and Instagram accounts, whose followers immediately start to increase as the revelation is announced on the news.
Early promotional photos from Mischa’s upcoming horror flick L.A. Slasher have been added. This should be an interesting project to watch develop as it is being referred to as “neon-noir.” Maybe someone who is familiar
with film making jargon could hit up the comments and give us some detail on what that actually means.
A lot has changed on Mischa’s IMDb page over the last few days – namely two new movies have appeared under Mischa’s “pre-production” status. One is an assassin movie called “For Hire” and the other is a feel-good drama executive produced by Martin Scorsese called “Tomorrow.” As always, please take early IMDb casting announcements with a grain of salt.
Here is the synopsis for “For Hire” which will be directed by Giles Alderson and Martin Owen:
Devoted Dad, Peter Frawley, is the only man alive who knows he’s also Thirteen, the UK’s most successful hit man. When someone takes out a contract on Frawley and kidnaps his son, Thirteen finds himself inadvertently hired to kill himself.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Tomorrow”, written by Stuart Brennan and Sebastian Street, is billed as a feel-good story about five main characters living for the day. THR goes on to mention that the film will look at HIV and soldiers returning home with post-traumatic stress disorder. Casting is currently underway with a production date tentatively set for May. Scorsese’s longtime script supervisor, Martha Pinson, will be making her big-screen directorial debut.
Both of the above titles seem to be British productions.
With some good news concerning the two new movies, comes the possibility of some bad news. Back in January, IMDb added Mischa’s name to the cast list of an action movie called “Homefront” starring Jason Statham and James Franco. Mischa’s name has since been removed from the list. Sometimes this simply means that they’re updating the page to add additional information, but other times it means that the initial listing was incorrect. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see on this one.
Additionally, Mischa is also attached to star in a third movie called “The Cabin at the Lake.” This is from the same people who were originally going to make a movie called “Into the Darkness” with Mischa, but that never came to fruition. Considering that this title is listed under the “script” phase (and has been for a while now), it seems less likely to go ahead – with Mischa on board at least.
Finally, we’re still waiting on IMDb to add a horror movie called “L.A. Slasher” to Mischa’s page as we have visual confirmation of her filming scenes for this.
Check out a teaser trailer of one of Mischa’s upcoming movies L.A. Slasher. She literally just completed filming this before she left for London, so it’s pretty impressive that footage has already been uploaded online.
Also, please be aware that this teaser trailer is not suitable for everyone. If you’re underage or just sensitive to gruesome murder/slightly pornographic scenes, then do yourself a favour and watch the trailer for I Will Follow You Into the Dark which is a lot more romantic than it is horrifying.
