Unfortunately The Beautiful Life: TBL premiered last night to extremely low viewership. The network can’t really spin the result in any positive way so the only hope of survival is if the show grows over the coming weeks. Here are the results:
In series-premiere news, CW drama The Beautiful Life did not live up to its title, with a mere (and very last-place) 1.46 million viewers and a 0.7/ 2 among adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. Comparably, retention out of the second-half of lead-in America’s Next Top Model (Viewers: 3.00 million; A18-49: 1.5/ 4 at 8:30 p.m.) was only 49 percent in total viewers and 47 percent among adults 18-49. One year earlier, a repeat of 90210 averaged a stronger 1.92 million viewers and a 1.0/ 3 among adults 18-49 in the time period. Top Model, meanwhile, is down considerably, with an average 2.81 million viewers (#5) and a fourth-place 1.4/ 4 among adults 18-49 from 8-9 p.m. Comparably, that was a loss of a hefty 34 percent from one year earlier.
I saw this one coming…it was going up against glee and it had barel any fanson facebook…and if it goes down next week, i am 100% sure there will nto be asecond season
unfortunately i live in france and so i have to watch it on the internet … I hope you’re wrong david.
David, unless you’re physic you can’t be 100% sure of anything. TV is a very fickle business, where anything can happen. Take last season’s renewal of Dollhouse, 1.3 million viewers for the finale, and it was renewed-and that was on a more major network.
Also, this project has two big names behind it. Mischa and Ashton. If Ostroff would pair TBL with Gossip Girl it’d be much better. OTH needs to bow out gracefully.
yeah because the man behind Dollhouse has a cult following who buys everything he does, the numbers of sold DVDs of Buffy, Firefly and Serenity have been huge. He had to cut his budgetfor the 2nd season of dollhouse a little bit but TBL doesn’t have the Joss Whedon factor. Sorry to say this, but Mischa Barton neither Ashton Kutscher have such a big following, otherwise their movies wouldn’t tank at the box office…
edit: not to forget the sales numbers of his latest Doctor Horrible Sing-long Blog. An other factor is the critical acclaim of his shows: Buffy counts among the best shows ever made for television. And that something you can’t say about TBL. The reviews of the first episode wasn’t all that… The second half of the first dollhouse seaon when he was allowed to do all on his own without FOX the stories iimproved drastically.
Sorry to say this but if TBL doesn’t improve in the numbers I can’t see a second season…
