Victorian Bushfire TragedyPosted in News
This post is just a personal message from me and is thus not Mischa related but should be of particular relevance to all our Australian visitors.
Just wanting to give a heads up to the Aussies out there that the Red Cross and The Salvation Army in association with various governmental tiers have launched a charity appeal for the victims of the Victorian bushfire tragedy from earlier this week. Over 700 homes have been destroyed, 330,000 hectares of land has been burnt out, thousands of people are homeless and its feared the death toll could reach 200. Not to mention the fact that fires are still currently burning. Online donations from as little as $5 can help the people who have literally lost everything in what is now the worst bushfire incident in Australian history. You can also head on over to various banks and retailers to make a donation in person. We can’t change what happened, but we can stand behind Victoria as a strong and generous nation to support the victims of this tragedy as much as possible.
On a positive note, in less than a day over $10 million was raised to support the victims! And as an aside, The Salvos are also continuing to collect for the victims of the devastating floods in North Queensland just prior to the bushfire tragedy.
